I'D LIKE TO MAKE A RESERVATION. HOW DOES THAT WORK?

We will need to know the property you are interested in, and the week(s) you'd like. If we have availability and are able to accommodate you, we will need your name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, and a four-digit code of your choosing for the lockbox. We will then send you a lease agreement, (e-mail or snail-mail, your choice!) with that information, and ask you to return a signed copy of the lease along with a check for the first payment. We will sign, scan, and email back one fully-executed copy of the lease as a receipt for payment, so we both have copies of the lease agreement. The four-digit code is for us to program the lockbox for your property - we change the codes every week so that your key is only available to you with your code.

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

We split payments one of two different ways. If you make your reservation in the calendar year prior to your vacation year (reserve in 2015 for summer 2016, for example), then we would need 1/3 of the rental amount at the time of reservation, 1/3 in January of the vacation year, and the remaining 1/3 due 30 days prior to occupancy. If you make your reservation after January 1, then 1/2 of the rental amount is due at the time of reservation, and the second 1/2 is due 30 days prior to occupancy. Payment must be in US funds, and may be paid by personal check if the reservation is made and full payment is received at least 10 days prior to occupancy. For last-minute rentals of less than 10 days prior to occupancy: cash, certified check, or Paypal is required.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

As is customary in Cape May, we supply a fully-functioning kitchen with pots, pans, coffee maker, dishes, silverware, glassware, etc. We do not supply condiments or any food.

We supply pillows, blankets, bedspreads, and mattress pads, however you will need to bring sheets and pillow cases for the bedding as indicated in the lease. You will also need to bring towels for the bath and for the beach. There is a local service in the area that rents sheets and towels - contact Linen Ladies of Cape May (linenladies.com).

We also supply full-size washer and dryers, (in Cape Roc #310, #311, and #314 they are public, coin-operated machines - with a laundry room on each floor near the elevator). You will need to bring laundry soap (they are front-loading machines so use HE detergent) if you wish to do laundry during your stay. 

HOW DOES YOUR SECURITY/CLEANING DEPOSIT WORK?

As is customary with any house rental, we do require a security/cleaning deposit. Our deposit for 1 and 2 bedroom homes is $150, while 3 and 4 bedroom homes have a $300 deposit. The deposit is due in full 30 days prior to occupancy. To keep our rates down, we do expect our tenants to clean prior to departure. Each week, we check each property to ensure that it is cleaned, undamaged, and ready for the next tenant. Then we are able to refund the security deposits within 14 days. We do pride ourselves on offering clean accommodations, and thus we re-clean where necessary. If the cleaning takes longer than 15 minutes for a team of two of us, then we charge a deduction from the security/cleaning deposit - minimum of $75 for 1 bedroom, $100 for 2 bedrooms, $125 for 3 BR, and $150 for 4 bedrooms. Historically, we fully refund more than 94% of our deposits, and have only held a full deposit back once in 17 years of renting. 

We can arrange a cleaning service for your post-vacation cleaning at an additional fee, which must be scheduled in advance - let us know if you want this!
