Rain, Rain, (don't?) Go Away

Ask any of us here at Beaches End and our answer will always be the same - "it's always a great day in Cape May;" and trust us, it's true even in the rain:

1. Appoint a Designated Driver for Brewery / Winery Hopping

Breweries: Cape May Brewing Co. started the local brew trend but you can now add multiple more stops along the beer trail including Bucket Brigade Brewery, Cold Spring Brewery, 7 Mile Brewery, and Slack Tide Brewery, all located off the island.

Wineries: Willow Creek Winery is located on the island over in West Cape May, but off-the island options are a bit more plentiful, including Cape May Winery, Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery, and Turdo Vineyards.

2. Browse Through a Few Local Antique Shops

Our favorites include Cape May Antique Center and Antiques Emporia, both of which are set up with multiple vendors. Set up in the same way, West End Garage contains antique and craft items, as well as a recent addition of a bakery serving hot coffee and pastries. For smaller items, check out Out of the Past - just across the street from Antiques Emporia.

3. Relax Off the Sand at The Cape May Day Spa

Open 9-6 every day and with a variety of massage and facial options, this is the perfect way to escape for an hour.

4. Grab the Kids and a Take a Trip to the Arcade

Located conveniently on the Promenade across from Howard Street, the Cape May Family Fun Arcade lives up to its name - be sure to say hi to the owner, Adele, for us!

5. Overcast Option: The Cape May County Zoo

One of our favorite options 15 years ago and a favorite option still today, the CM Zoo operates by donation only yet is still one of the best zoos on the East Coast, in our opinion of course.

6. Grab an Umbrella and a Shopping Bag

Head over to the Washington Street Mall for an outdoor shopping experience like no other -- great in the sun, rain, or snow! Find a directory to the strip here.

7. Drive Over to Wildwood

Enter Wildwood via the bridge on the right, before the GSP - but don't forget $1.50 in cash or EZ Pass for the toll on the way back. Options for everyone, Wildwood includes a great bowling alley, a boardwalk and amusement piers, and an aquarium. Morey's Piers may be better suited for an overcast day, however.

8. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Check out the Naval Air Station Aviation Museum at the Cape May Airport - there is an entrance fee but all active duty military members are welcome at no charge.

9. Explore the History of Cape May

Founded in 1685, there's no shortage of history around town. Some of our favorite ways to explore this: The Emlen Physick Estate offers tours of the grounds and estate, trolley tours offer a glimpse of the whole city while remaining safe and dry, while the WW2 Lookout Tower and the Cape May Lighthouse offer different views of the city.
